3/5/2004 More about the guestbook spamming

We've discovered some more about the guestbook spamming that has been going on: Apparently some users have deliberately "challenged" other users to spam their guestbooks simply in order to get the largest guestbook. A lot of the server resources have gone to serving these guestbooks. In the choice between having the entire game run slow or allowing these contests, we've had to choose that spamming guestbooks is not legal, not even if the recipient asks for it. However, we will not ban those users who have contributed in the "spamming contests" this time. Future offenders will though, and of course, users who have been spamming guestbooks of those who did not ask for it.

Some spammed guestbooks with 24,000 postings or more will be cleaned. We'd also like to point out that any use of scripts to post guestbook messages (or indeed using scripts to do any other thing, unless it is an accepted CHPP application) is strictly forbidden and will be dealt with harshly.

3/5/2004 Více o spammování guestbooků

Zjistili jsme další informace ohledně spammovaní guestbooků, které zatěžovaly v posledních dnech server. Pár uživatelů "vyzvalo" ostatní, aby jim do jejich guestbooků psali zprávy jakéhokoliv charakteru jen kvůli tomu, aby jej měli největší. To samozřejmě hodně přitížilo serveru.
